Integration of Lean Construction Production Planning with BIM - Lean manufacturing methods have been customized for the construction industry via introduction and continuous improvement of the Last Planner system. Those methods were tested on many construction projects over the last 15 years, both in commercial and EPC construction verticals. At the same time, in the last 10 years a new way of modeling, BIM, has gained widespread adoption. This webinar will introduce technical aspects of working with the Last Planner (screening tasks for soundness, working with Work Plans, analyzing nonconformance reasons) to present a new way of improving lean production planning, control and analysis via online collaboration, track scheduling conflicts via integration of disparate data, and improving quantity take-off processes and visualization through the integration of BIM data.

FIATECH & PIP Global Valve Cross-reference eCatalog (GVCC) Project: Outline and AEX cfiXML-based Software Demonstration - The GVCC project is a collaboration of PIP and owner, purchaser, supplier and manufacturer organizations. The aim is to stream-line valve matching by using standard PIP valve specifications as the comparison basis for other organization's valve catalogues. PIP standard valve catalogues include over 930 ball, globe, gate, check, butterfly, plug, needle and diaphragm block valve specifications. These have been converted into cfiXML format and PIP is using the GVCC ValveCatalogEditor system to complete revisions to the catalogues prior to release. The ValveCatalogEditor and valve Matcher systems have been trialled by GVCC members and final refinements are being undertaken. This presentation outlines the purpose and current status of the GVCC Project and demonstrates the software systems developed to meet the different stakeholder requirements.

AMEC Paragon's Integrated Project Execution Strategy Delivers Measurable Project Savings-Technology Implementation Case Study - AMEC Paragon has developed an Integrated Project Execution (IPE) work process that has allowed it to measure and deliver outstanding time and cost savings across multiple projects, utilizing the full suite of AVEVA's design and engineering applications. AMEC Paragon's IPE strategy enables the collaboration of all parties involved in an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) project - across all applications and executed from multiple locations - safely, efficiently, and effectively. AMEC Paragon measured savings on two projects: a retrofit offshore project in 2005 utilizing AVEVA's PDMS and laser scanning in West Africa for a major production field; and an offshore project completed in 2006 utilizing AVEVA's PDMS, Plant Engineering, and Project Resource Management solutions. The 6000-ton gas compression platform was in 200 feet of water in West Africa. The reduction in risk, cost, and schedule benefits of AMEC Paragon's IPE strategy will be illustrated with case studies of two offshore projects.
