A live mash-up of 71 million square feet of facilities using BIM, GIS for the life-cycle.

The Foundation for California Community Colleges (FCCC) has been providing facilities and building data services to the systems' 112 campuses since 2003. The Foundation's work includes building assessments, Facility Utilization, a Space Inventory Options Net (FUSION), and California Community Colleges Geographic Information Systems (CCCGIS) Collaborative. FUSION and the CCCGIS operated separately until March 2011. The ONUMA System brought the two databases together to become the largest cloud computing building information modeling (BIM) and GIS platform. The new integrated FUSION+CCCGIS+ONUMA System expands the capabilities of the colleges to more effectively and efficiently manage and plan their facilities for the full life-cycle with real-time access to data.

The new system combines FUSION's inventory of 5,000 buildings (71 million square feet) that make up the California Community College (CCC) facilities and CCCGIS data on campus buildings and geography with building models in the ONUMA System. The centralized online platform uses the Internet to make real-time data available to all authorized users without having to install or update software. Information that was previously available only in tabular data format can now be visualized as two or three-dimensional building models, allowing for faster pattern recognition, better decision making, and improved accounting of facilities and assets.

The BIM data can now be exported to most common formats for contractors and builders. This cross-platform compatibility also allows for easy updates once construction is complete. Project proposals and pre-design plans can also be produced locally and more cost-effectively. Maps can be portrayed visually at a statewide, campus-wide, building, or room level. The ONUMA System also enables users to view and edit furniture and equipment on a room level.
